Charybdis was the daughter of Poseidon and Gaia and is often portrayed as a great whirlpool. Once she was a naiad (nymph) who was fiercely loyal to her father and would flood land and kill villagers for him in an attempt to widen the sea, her father's kingdom, but Zeus became angry and turned her into a monster. She lives in a cave opposite the sea monster Scylla and she appeared in the Odyssey. Her name literally means "sucker down".

They play for keeps. Cowboys riding on steel horses. Pity that poor girl, crying over those lost souls and waking up alone. Pity their mothers, some of those boys might not make it back. Better to burn out than fade away. Prison bars don’t keep these people in; they were born with a gun in their hands and a knife in their hearts. Sinister kids off to meet their maker and you don’t want to know what they do to rule-breakers. These aren’t people that you stab in the back and live to tell the tale. You don’t betray the family, you don’t scam them, you don’t kill a brother, you don’t take his girl and you certainly don’t hurt her, you just don’t. But if you do… God help you.
 

 

 
Sorry it's a bit different than my usual sets but i've just been seeing some really good performances in film and tv lately and the actors featuresd perform well in really human performances, plus i've been seeing way too much Sons of Anarchy. Much appreciation for putting up with me.

Okay so I know it's been ages since my last mythology set and i know this one's a bit dark but i hope you like it. Lilith, whose name means "belonging to the night" in Babylonian, was, at least in the version I based this set off, a human girl who was corrupted, body and soul by Lucifer (God's favorite angel who was very anti-human as he saw them fro what they really were, murderous and cruel). Anyways, Lucifer strips Lilith of her humanity, making her an immortal demon and as punishment for this he is cast from heaven into hell and becomes the Devil, Satan, what have you. There are many different versions of this, one being that Lilith was the original wife of Adam but refused to serve him, was rejected by him and replaced by Eve. She is said to have then "copulated" with Lucifer and his demons (even in some versions the archangel Samael) and gave birth to demons. In other versions she is also the snake that tempts Eve into eating the forbidden fruit. She is portrayed in Jewish folklore as a seductress and a child killer. In one book i have read Lilith is unable to bear living children as her punishment from God, i quite like this as i gives her some emotional depth. so anyway, i hope that wasn;t tooo much of a prattle on about nothing. Basically, Lilith is Lucifer's pet project/lady. She can't have baby Lucifer's so she is sad and goes around killing babies and seducing men. The end. Im so going to change this decription tomorrow into something poetic but at the moment i must go. Much love for your patience. xxoo

Inspired by the new scripted series "Vikings" for the History Channel, coming in 2013. Characters used are from Centurion (the movie).

Wow, a new set after a long lapse in my creativity. I was originally just going to do this as a pirate themed setbut then thought, "Hey, why shouldn't it be an Anne Bonny set?" but since then it has reverted to the former idea, with some influence from the badass swashbuckler herself, Anne Bonny. Apparently this crazy priate lady stabbed a serving girl when she was thirteen years old and soon after fell into the "wrong crowd" with a managerie of pirate lovers and such. She became a pirate herself and terrorised the Caribbean in the early 1700's, before being captured and apparently pleading for the life of her unborn child to avoid the hangman's noose. Wow, I think this one's fatt to complicated to explain... argh! too many thoughts! Well anyway I spent AGES on this, AGES! And it doesn't even have the picture I wanted but STILL I am rather proud of my perseverance. All likes are appreciated although i know this set is probably meaningless without the thoughts behind it, but yeah, i'll stop talking now.

It just rained for literally three seconds at my house & i love the rain. So it cheered me up as i am sickly :(
